I was born and raised in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Our home had view of beautiful coastal beaches.
Traveling to many places throughout Europe and the United States has given me the opportunity to understand and incorporate my experiences of the translucent world of the water, the majestic land, and everchanging sky. Experiences such as sailing in the Pacific Ocean, swimming in the Adriatic Sea, kayaking in Idaho and backpacking in California have exposed me to the overwhelming beauty of nature. My intention as an artist is to share these visual and emotional experiences with others through my paintings and mosaics.

My favorite subject to paint are coastal scenes, historical architecture and landscapes. I lived all my life close to the sea and I have always been captivated by the power of the wind, sun and waves and constant energy that they create.

My favorite subject to paint are coastal scenes, historical architecture and landscapes. I lived all my life close to the sea and I have always been captivated by the power of the wind, sun and waves and constant energy that they create.
I use every opportunity to observe, to understand and study landscape; I am constantly seeing potential paintings everywhere I look. I enjoy painting on location where I am surrounded by the beauty of nature. If I can not paint on location, I will take many photographs of the subject, then later merge a sketch and the photos as reference to create the final painting. My goal is to deliver to the viewer "the beautiful moment" that I experienced.

Nadalena's art gallery includes original fine art paintings primarily done in oil or acrylic on canvas. Nadalena specializes in original paintings of California and the coastline and historic architecture of Croatia. In addition to the artwork available on this website Nadalena is able to create custom pieces upon request. She works with clients to design custom canvas, working with their photographs and memorabilia to arrive at a unique solution.

Nadalena began mosaic work at a very young age, inspired by generations of artisans and traditions of classic mosaic construction and design.
Nadalena brings modern artistry to the old science of mosaics.
Instead if using uniform, pre-cut, strait-edged pieces, Nadalena custom-cuts each piece to mimic the natural shape of her subject.
These techniques are much more arduous, time-consuming, and challenging, but you can see how well the labor pays off when you look at her final creation with over 100 to 2000 hand-cut pieces.

Nadalena's art gallery also includes original abstract paintings. The versatility of her work style makes it easy for her to respond to a variety of requirements. She can design canvas from the ground up, or interview clients, working with their photographs and memorabilia to arrive at a unique solution.

Prints on canvas (giclée) are available upon request, in many different/custom sizes.
Upon customer request embellished textures could be applied to the prints.
